At CoLAHG, we are committed to providing an out of hours learning experience that will broaden students’ learning beyond that which is offered on the mainstream curriculum. Enrichment activities increase motivation and support students’ achievement. The Enrichment offer includes a wide range of sporting and creative subjects such as Music, Drama, Debating and Creative Writing. These are just a few activities offered in our programme. Students at Highbury Grove also have the opportunity throughout the year to develop independent learning, problem solving and creative skills through links to external bodies such as Duke of Edinburgh, Outward Bound and MiSST.
The opportunity for learning outside the formal curriculum is an important part of Academy life and all students have an equal opportunity to participate in the activities on offer. The Enrichment Programme is offered before school, at lunch time and after school; Monday to Friday.
Activities Week
Our annual activities week supports both classroom learning and students’ cultural capital. This is a huge part of their personal development and involves a wide range of trips, visits and enrichment experiences over a week in the academic calendar. Students have had the opportunity to learn to surf, climb, camp and have visited places abroad such as Disneyland Paris, Naples, Barcelona and Germany. Activities Week is unique to the City of London Academy Highbury Grove and expands on both students’ academic and interpersonal skills.
