The online learning platform used by Highbury Grove is Google classroom. Google classroom is used for Home Learning, Revision, and Communication. There are many other platforms that are used collaboratively with Google classroom such as Seneca and SPARX. These can also be accessed through google classroom.
Students must only ever use their HG account to access any of these resources or lessons.
How to Log into Google classroom
- Go to https://classroom.google.com and click ‘Go to Classroom’.
- Enter your username and click ‘Next’ your username is your school google email: First initial, lastname, year of joining @hgschool.uk e.g. sbegum20@hgschool.uk
- Enter your password and click ‘Next’. Keep your password safe and do not share it with anyone.
- Read the welcome message and click ‘Accept’.
- Click ‘I’m a student’.
- Click ‘Get Started’.
How students Use/ View Google classroom
In the home page classes and subjects are viewed on the left hand navigation bar as well as tabs on the right.
You can view any information by clicking into the relevant class.
When clicked into the class, there are 4 tabs. The stream will have any notification such as if there was a class comment by the teacher or a new post was made. Classwork will have all the home learning and resources your child will need. People will have the contact information for the classroom teacher and marks will be for any work assessed online and feedback given.
In the class you are able to see any upcoming assignments as well as the class codes.
From the main page the ‘To Do’ button will list all the upcoming assignments your child must complete for their Home Learning.
You can also see which assignments have been completed and which have not.

If your child has forgotten their log in details
For students who have forgotten their login details or are having other technical issues with using Google Classroom, please ask your parent or carer to send an email to password@hgschool.uk so they can request this for you. Please provide the following information in the email:
- Academy Google username if known (ending in @hgschool.uk)
- Full name (surname and forename)
- Year group
- Tutor group
- The nature of the problem (e.g. forgotten password, error message, etc)

- If your child cannot see their Home Learning Assignment
- If your child is unable to view their assignment it is likely that they have missed the deadline. They must click into the classroom and click the classwork tab to access missed assignments.
If you get a netsweeper notification
If you get a netsweeper notification it is likely that your child is not using their HG username and or is trying to access something filtered out by the school. Please ensure they are using the HG school log in details. If the problem persists please contact your child’s Director of Learning.
