Careers help and guidance

At Highbury Grove, we believe that strong partnerships between students, parents and the school help young people make informed and confident decisions about their futures. We encourage parents and carers to stay engaged with the school’s careers programme and to support their child as they explore the opportunities available to them.

Parents can support their child by exploring careers platforms such as Unifrog, which provides information about different careers, courses and progression routes. Sharing your own experiences of work, discussing different jobs, or introducing your child to people in different professions can help them gain a better understanding of the workplace. Encourage your child to talk about the subjects they enjoy and the skills they are developing in school. Helping them recognise their strengths can build confidence and support future decision-making.

It is important to discuss the wide range of pathways available after school, including sixth form, college courses, apprenticeships and university. Exploring different options together can help students understand the variety of opportunities open to them.

Unifrog

Highbury Grove uses Unifrog, an online careers platform, to support students in exploring their future pathways and making informed decisions about education, training and employment. Students use the platform throughout their time at school to research opportunities, record experiences and plan their next steps.

Using Unifrog you can:

  • Explore career pathways and labour market information
  • Research university courses, apprenticeships and college options
  • Record work experience placements
  • Access careers guidance resources and webinars
  • View action steps following a one to one careers meeting in years 11 and 13.

Parents and carers are also able to create parent accounts, allowing them to support their child’s research and planning.
