Enrichment overview
We offer a fantastic Enrichment Programme which gives students the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects, competitive and non-competitive sports, creative and performing arts as well as academic booster classes. Many activities are run by our own staff but we also work with external organisations and specialist providers to ensure a high quality offer for students. We encourage all our students to take part in at least one activity, to enrich their experience and enjoyment of learning as well as develop new skills, interests and friendships. Our enrichment provision has two parts Monday P7 and Enrichment programme that sits outside of this.

Monday period 7
Throughout the school year we have the opportunity for every key stage 3 student to take part in 21 compulsory enrichment sessions on Monday 3.15-4pm. This new initiative is a core part of our enrichment programme, giving Year 7-9 students the opportunity to develop new skills, broaden their interests and experiences, and take part in activities that go beyond the classroom.
There are three P7 blocks throughout the year and students will get the chance to choose a different P7 club for each block. A detailed breakdown of the p7 calendar can be found at the top of this page. This year we have P7 sessions in the below areas:
- Creative and artistic clubs
- Entrepreneurial and intellectual clubs
- Reading and language clubs
- Media and performing arts clubs
- STEM and logic-based clubs
- Sports and fitness clubs
A detailed breakdown of the clubs for block 1 can be found at the top of this page. Students will get the chance to choose their block 2 in December.
Enrichment programme
In addition to our P7 offer we also have the opportunity for a range of experiences for our young people. These include:
Music
Music is an integral part of life at COLAHG. We offer a bespoke music programme to all students in Key Stage 3, through which every student learns to play an orchestral instrument. Students receive 100 or 200 minutes of music lessons bi-weekly, focusing on developing musicianship through practical music-making, appraising a wide range of musical genres, and composing using our Apple Mac Suite.
Beyond the classroom, we provide an extensive range of extra-curricular enrichment opportunities, including four orchestras, rock bands, choirs, and smaller chamber ensembles. Each term, students take part in whole-year group KS3 performance assemblies, showcasing their progress and creativity.
Our orchestras have performed at prestigious venues such as the Hackney Empire, The Barbican, London Palladium, The Guildhall, and Camden Roundhouse. Students also enjoy annual residential trips to Gresham’s School, which provide further opportunities for musical development and collaboration.
Alongside termly concerts that highlight the diverse musical talent across the school, students work throughout the year to stage a Musical Theatre Production, bringing together performance, creativity, and teamwork.
Sport
There is a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities both before and after school, at lunchtimes and during weekends. We offer both team and individual sports coaching and provide the opportunity to compete against other schools in regular sporting fixtures.
